Interview: Scarred
Hello dear Eric,
welcome to the interviews with Susi! It`s very nice that Scarred and you taking the time to do this interview with me. So letz start with the questions.
1. How did the story of Scarred begin?
Eric: John started the band in 2001. He wantedto create a new sound using influences of metal's pioneers along with some of the new, edgy styles that were emerging. Through the years he kept updated on changes in metal music and made his final move by creating this new line up for Scarred.
2. Which were/are the bands who took influence of your musical style?
Eric: Scarred has it's own unique sound by adapting influences from each musician which creates an amazing balance. From Iron Maiden, Dio, Judas Priest to some of todays heavy hitters like Ices Earth, Nevermore and Opeth. Scarred continues to create using their own tools.
3. What is your band doing at the moment?
Eric: We are currently working on a new CD titled "Worms of the Universe". We have been consumed with writing, perfecting and recording the new material for the CD. You can hear some of our new songs on myspace.com/scarredmetal.
4. Back in 2006 you played at the Power Prog West Festival. What were your memories about this festival. And did you make new friendswith some of the other bands like NEVERMORE, AGENT STEEL, SCARRED, STEEL ATTACK, NOCTUARY?
Eric: Power Prog West was a great festival - 3 stages of metal @ the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, California. We opened for Nevermore that evening - it was great to share the stage with some of the bands that have influenced us. We had a great time meeting Nevermore, they're a great group of guys. After the festival, John had a BBQ at his house with Steel Attack - we drank and ate all night! We also played a couple of shows at the Whiskey with Steel Attack after Power Prog. We still keep intouch with the band via myspace.
5. When did you play your last gig with the new line-up?
Eric: Our last show was in March at DiPiazza in Long Beach, California.
6. I see you are playing in California 16th May 2009.... Playing as a support band or as headliner? Which other bands are playing?
Eric: We will be playing with Neurotoxin, Jerusalem and Teach my hands to War. The band Jerusalem invited us to play the show as a support band to introduce the new Scarred line up and music.
7. Are there any more concerts planned for the rest of the year?
Eric: We are looking into some festivals. We will keep everyone up to speed on show info or updates @myspace.com/scarredmetal. Feel free to also send us an email if you have any questions for the band at scarredemail@aol.com
