Interview: CHRIS LANEY
Hello Chris, I thank you for this chance to interview you. So letz start with the questions.
1. Please introduce yourself to us first!
Chris: Well, My name is Chris Laney, 37 year old rocker who also work as a producer. I have done stuff like, Zan Clan, Animal, Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx, Candlemass, H.E.A.T. and many many more. I just released my first solo album titled ´Chris Laney Pure´
2. Then please introduce your band ZAN CLAN to us now.
Chris: Zan Clan is the brainchild of ZInny Zan (Easy Action/Shotgun Messiah). I hooked up with Zinny back in 2004 and have worked on and off since.The band is currently on ice since I am doing my solo thing and Zinny is re-uniting Easy Action.
3. Pontus Egberg and Pontus Norgren are now together (your former band members) are having great succes with THE POODLES now. Do you missed them much when they left ZAN CLAN? Are you still in contact with them? What has changed since they left?
Chris: Pontus Norgren has joined Hammerfall, and I am really thrilled for him.
Do you missed them much when they left ZAN CLAN?
Chris: Well, no relationship is easy to break up, but you will get over it, and I am over it.
Are you still in contact with them?
Chris: Oh yeah, we still meet and talk every now & Then...It is just music, not a war;) What has changed since they left? We have two new members: Nalle Grizzly Pahlsson on bass, and Rob Love on guitar. And as I said.. we had to put the band on ice... We DO have a new album written that is killer named "Rock & Roll Messiahs"
4. Whats Zan Clan and Chris Laney doing at the moment?
Chris: I am promoting my album PURE, Zinny is doing Easy Action, Nalle & Johan is doing Therion and Rob is with Dynazty and my live band. But everyone in Zan Clan is on my solo album, that is how close we are. Johan and Nalle is playing on the whole thing, me and Zinny is sharing vocals on one track and we wrote two of the songs together. Rob is doing a solo.
5. Have you got other projectes besides ZAN CLAN?
Chris: See the above.
6. You and Lennart Östland got a studio together. Please tell us something about your studio. When did you start with the studio and which bands have you both already produced so far?
Chris: We work at Polar Studios (ABBA; Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, Def Leppard and more). It is a 380m2 facility with 2 control rooms and some cool gear. I have done tons... Candlemass, Brian Robbo Robertson, Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, Dynazty, Animal, Dead By Gun, Babylon Bombs...the list goes on and on...
7. Are there any touring plans with Zan Clan in the near future?.... touring Germany for example:-)?
Chris: No, not at this moment...first we need to get a label to release the album we have written songs for.
8. Which kinda merchandise do you offer your fans at the moment? And are you planning to start Fanpages and/or streetteams in countries all over the world like loads of bands do?
Chris: No need at this moment...but we WILL be back, some day!! That IS a promise! we have so much more to give and it is just about timing.
9. Which music are you listening to in your free time?
Chris: To be honest...I work 24/7 with music so I don't listen THAT much anymore... but the latest albums I have in my ipod is: Steel Panther, My Chemical Romance, Cheap trick, and as always Shotgun Messiah.
