Interview: Sceptor
Hello dear Sceptor, now its up to you and I am really happy to have you here for an interview. So letz start with the following questions.
Hey,
danke fürs Interview, coole Sache. Hier die Antworten, ich habe sie zusammen mit Tim ausgearbeitet, bitte schön!
1. Your band was born THIS YEAR - so its all new to us - so please introduce your band to us first.
Tim: The band consists of the Frontsinger Bob Mitchell, T. Black, who is doing the leadguitar, Tim Scholl on rythmguitar and Mad Köhler playing the Bass.
mad: after collecting experiences within the last 28 years in punkrock (drums), german rock (vocals) and progressive rock (keyboards) now doing metal on bass. another great challenge :-)
2. You are doing US Metal - why you chose this style?
Tim: Why are playing bands the music they play? it is the music all bandmembers are listening to, beside a lot of other stuff. So it is the least common multiple we all have fun with. We wanted to do some music we don't have to think about to much while playing it. We want to have some fun on stage and with the audience. We just want to rock!
mad: it's da kine more powerful metal, there's more space for melodies, harmonies as well as big fat chords and basslines.
3. You got various musicians on board and also having legendary Bob Mitchell (ex Attacker shouter)... So how did it come to this having Bob for your band? Please tell us the whole story.
T.B.: I know Bob from the past. I've played in a band before and on a festival we met each other. After some years I thought it must be a cool thing to have him as the vocalist for our band. I remembered seeing him live on stage with Attacker. I wrote an e-mail and he said yes because he liked the music.
mad: guess he likes the style :-) he was asked before i complete the band.
4. Well so I think it isn`t easy if the singer of a band is thousands of kilometres away so how do you manage this?
Tim: It's not really difficult. The instrumental rehearsals and composing works are done in germany without Bob. We are sending him the new stuff via email and he is working out the lyrics and melodylines. After that he is sending it back to germany, so we can finish the song.
mad: same way as practicing in germany: sending the songs by e-mail
5. While talking about distances ... what about the recording of your songs - how do you handle this when Bobs so far away.... Do you do the recordings in Germany or did he record his vocals in the USA?
Tim: The recordings are done the same way. Instrumental recordings and mastering are done in germany and the vocals in the USA.
mad: instruments in germany, vocals in usa.
T.B.: We're thinking about recording the vocals in Germany while Bob is touring with us and plays some festivals and gigs as well. Everything is in the works now but things are running pretty well.
6. What is Sceptor doing at the moment?
Tim: What every new band should do, we are hard working on new material! We got a very good feedback after presenting some songideas in the internet, so we don't want to disappoint our fans.
Beside the new Songmaterial, we are totaly inside the work of finishing our first single "Introducing...". At this moment we recieved the cover and the master of the first song.
mad: finishing artwork for the single-cover, expecting the day x-mas is done.
7. Who is the main composer for Sceptor?
Tim: This question is easily to answer: T. Black! He has an imense conglomeration of songs, written in the last years. Together with the rest of the band we are doing the arrangements.
T.B.: I have to admit every single bandmember is very important for the songwiriting process and I'm glad to write songs with cool and talented musicans. It keeps the new material fresh when everybody comes up with his own ideas which are flowing into the songs. Every single song is a structure on which we are working. In the end its possible that the whole song sounds different than before.
mad: of course Mr. T. Black
8. So you want to tour with the band hopefully next year .... any plans of how many shows you want to give and how to handle this? I am really exited bout meeting up with all of you - thats why I hope you are playing somewhere nere my town too :-).
Tim: The pleasure will be on our side! We are planning to do some gigs in the summer, when Bob will come over to germany for some weeks. How many gigs we are going to play will be up to how often the people want to hear us. We are ready to rock!
mad: not my business yet, first have to practice doing the bassguitar.....
9. Please leave some words for your fans.
Sceptor: we hope to see you all on tour! We will do some gigs without Bob before to see how the band sounds live. Stay tuned and be there thank you for support!
mad: stay tuned, watch for upcomming shows and recordings, that thing is big fun for everyone!
T.Black, Tim Scholl and Sceptor I thank you bunches for this interview, was nice talking to you and I am glad we are friends. I wish you and the guys all the best for the future and hope to see you soon next year, Susi
