Interview: BEYOND FALLEN

Hello there Joe,

it`s quite a long time since our last interview... so I am happy to have you here for another interview and we are all exited bout whats new with the Beyond Fallen metallers ;-)

1. Please introduce Beyond Fallen 2010 to my readers first.

Joe: We started the band in 2003, and are now working on our 3rd full album. Our first was a 4 song EP/demo. We have played many shows in the USA, and have also performed in Germany, notably at the Headbanger's Open Air Festival, and Ballroom Hamburg. The band has played shows with Over Kill, WASP, Joey Belladonna, Firewind, Metal Church, and many more.

2. What has changed with Beyond Fallen since the last interview we did?

Joe: We have a new lead guitarist, Butch Frable. He's an incredible player, songwriter, and a great guy who is also a hard worker. He's a great fit for what we do, and his guitar work is going to impress many people. Simply a tremendous talent on guitar! We also moved into a new rehearsal space in Scranton, PA

3. So what are you guys doing at the moment? I am sure you are working on new material? Whats planned?

Joe: We are working on the new album and hope to get into the studio this year. We're really excited about the new songs. We're doing some great live dates this summer, for example, The Warriors Of Metal Festival in Ohio with Omen, Cage, Aska, Taunted, Icarus Witch, Jacobs Dream and more. We're playng with The Rods also coming up, and have other concerts planned as well. One of the things on our list is to re-design our website, get new promo photos, and do more interviews, so this year is very busy.

4. Also i heard that you are going to cover a Dio song for a sampler
which will go to the fund, right? So is it already official which song
you will cover and if you can already tell us which one it will be?

Joe: I don't know what they are doing exactly - we have a Dio song we  are perhaps going to do at the Warriors Of Metal Festival, as they asked all the bands to cover a Dio song. we are doing "Killing The Dragon" . I have no knowledge of what they are doing with this, but
hopefully they secure the permission of Wendy Dio and Niji Productions. I won't be involved or support anything in regards to Ronnie James Dio tributes that does not have the blessing of Wendy Dio and Niji.

5. Can you describe the bands sound in the year 2010 has it changed or is it still the way like it was before?

Joe: Well, as I said there's a new lead guitarist, Butch Frable in Beyond Fallen, so I don't think our style has changed, as he's a great fit, but I believe he makes the band even better than before. His solos will sound a bit different.

6.  So you do rehearsals from time to time... as you moved to anothercity its a long way for you to see your bandmates... how does it work? And how many rehearsals are you doing within a half year for example?

Joe: with the technology today we communicate almost daily and send sound files of songs we are working with back and forth. I try to get up to Pennsylvania for a few days every month. It depends, right now we are busy so I travel to Pennsylvania from Virginia quite a bit. It has worked out for us. Many bands today have members living in different places.

7. As you are in the process of writing new material ... so whos the
main composer in Beyond Fallen and what are the lyrix mostly about?

Joe: Steve and Butch spent a few months putting together the riffs and music. I have about half the lyrics done at this point. We have songs about all sorts of topics, as usual. I don't want to give too much away until the album comes out.

8. You got some cool festivals coming to play soon. So I am sure you are all exited bout playing and hitting the stage. Which one of the festivals are you looking forward mostly?

Joe: All of them! You never know in the USA what kind of crowd will turn up, but these are great lineups. In Europe festivals like these would draw big crowds. Looking forward to seeing our friends in other bands, and making new ones.

9. When can we expect a new BF CD?

Joe: I hope sometime this year, time is flying by so hopefully by year's end at the latest.

10. Well last but not least... I know that you are the biggest RJD fan like me... so as we all are very shocked bout his death.... what are your last words/thoughts etc. for/on RONNIE?

Joe: It is so very sad. I attended the memorial service for Ronnie in Los Angeles on May 30th. There were many musicians there, and some performed. Ronnie James Dio was a huge influence on me. I met him a few times, and he was a great person. He's left us with a lot of incredible music. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Truly a one of a kind, and a music legend.

11. Joe, any last words you would like to add ????

Joe: Thanks so much for all the years of support for Beyond Fallen, it means a lot to me and the rest of the guys. I hope more people will discover Beyond Fallen and listen to our music all over the world. We want to get back to Europe to play again - so if you fans out there want us start telling the festivals you want to see Beyond Fallen.
