Interview: CRAZY LIXX

Hello there Crazy Lixx, it is very nice to have you as my interview partners. It is a greatl pleasure to talk to you. I hope life is treating you good and i got some questions for you so letz goooooo:

1. Please introduce your band to us first and tell us what has changed meanwhile since you started with Crazy Lixx.

Loke: We're a hard rock outfit from Sweden. We, or actually Danny and Vic, started out in 2002 with the idea of playing the feelgood metal from the American west coast that died in the early 90's.At the time the hard rock scene was dominated by Italian falsetto power metal and Norweigian death metal. Not since the arrival of grunge had music been allowed to be fun! We didn't even think anyone would take us seriously but went ahead and did it anyway. I don't think Danny or Vic will ever make such a well timed desicion again. Since then she scene has exploded, and we've been credited with being one of the founding bands in the so called "New wave of Swedish sleaze" wich now has a world wide following.

2. So what has changed after Vic Zino left CL? Do you miss him playing with CL? Do you keep in touch with him still?

Loke: It's safe to say a lot has changed since Vic left, and of course we miss him in lots of ways, but in the end I think it worked out better for both the bands. Andy's playing is a mammoth ingredient in the sound we have now, and his style is completely different from Vic's. The same goes for HCSS in my opinion, Vic's style of playing really suits their signature blend of thrash metal and sleazy rock 'n' roll. Anyway, we hang out as much as we can find time for. There were no real hard feelings towards Vic or anyone else when he left, and whenever we run in to hardcore at festivals and such we all have a blast together. They're really sweet guys.

3. So congratulations on your new album, its really a bummer. And I am sure you are really proud of it. So how long did the writing process take and who was the main composer of the songs?

Loke: Thanx, we realy are! Danny was the main writer, but Andy was very involved in all of it and wrote a couple of the songs himself. It's allways hard to say when a creative process starts, in a way it started right after recording Loud Minority, but the concious effort I guess started about six months before going in the studio, and the really intense period was maybe three months.

4. The songs were produced by Chris Laney (some of my myspace friends also), whoowhoo I have to say for hes working for the huge poloar Studio. So please tell us something about the collaboration with Chris.

Loke: We were so happy with his work on Loud Minority, there was never really any question about who would do our second album. My only concern was How can he top it? Turns out he did! Chris has an uncanny ability to bring out the best in songs by focusing on the key elements and kiling darlings, he's also a great musical coach for when you're actually recording. Working in Polar of course is a luxury and provided us with an ideal envionment, but as I've said before: We'd work with Laney even if all he had was a shack and a tape recorder.

5. So I saw you will tour in Sweden in May and wish you lots of fun and many fans coming out to see you. So have you planned to tour some more after touring your country? And which place that you haven`t been before you like to tour most?

Loke: There's lot's of plans at the moment, I know there's talk of England, Spain, Italy and Denmark, but nothing quite confirmed yet. I really want to do more touring in germany as we've only played there once. But of all the places we haven't been, I'd say Japan it the one I'm most looking foward to!

6. What else is new in the CRAZY LIXX camp? Anything you want to tell us and share with us?

Loke: We've recently started bringing a second guitarist, Edd Warren, to our live gigs. It really adds a new dimension to the sound and gives us the opportunity to do things we couldn't really pull off before, plus he's an awesome guy to hang out with. That's exiting, at least for us...

7. Please tell us something about your opinion about Hard Rock/ Glam in the year 2010... where does it stand today? And what has changed what would you say?

Loke: I think the mainstream scene is quite boring still, but there's a growing underground scene that's getting bigger by the minute. It's really cool that lately the bands no longer sound like blueprints of their former Idols. They have started picking and mixing, and adding something of their own, to form their personal sounds to a much bigger extent than just a couple of years back. I think that may have been what was holding this whole scene back, there was a lot of talent and a lot of attitude, but not much true originality.

8. Which bands are you listening to mostly?

Loke: I've been Listening a lot to Crucified Barbara's latest album. I think they really nailed it and there's more than a few really good tracks on there. Other than that I lisen to a lot of mixed stuff like Hank III, Joan Jett, Judas Priest and whatever seems fun on spotify.

9. Last but not least... Have you got anything you would like to add finally?

Loke: If you book us, we will come...

I thank you guys so much for the talking. I wish you all the best. I remember I saw you back in 2008 in Switzerland at the Back to Rock Festival we stayed at the same hotel and sat a table beside you at breakfast time. I was there with Sencirow (Germany) back then.

Loke: No worries! Was a Fun Intrview Cheers, Loke Rivano
