Interview: DARK QUARTERER
I salute you and I am really happy that I have the chance doing this interview with you. So letz start with some questions I have got for you my friends.
1. So all I know is that Dark Quarter is a band from Italy. So please introduce your band to us first. I am now informed that it all started with playing cover songs back in 1974 for many years?
Dark Quarterer: First of all the name of the band is DARK QUARTERER no Dark Quarter... The first Band name was “OMEGA R” . We started to play together on 1974 playing covers of Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Cream, Mountain. Then we decided to create original songs only after 6 years (1980) changing our name in DARK QUARTERER. On 1984 the first demo then on 1986 the first album self produced and self titled. The criticals considered us as founders of new style called Epic-progressive. After 1 year The Label “Cobra Records” produced our 2nd album called “THE ETRUSCAN PROPHECY”. Edgar Kluesener , the chief editor of Magazine Metal Hammer in Germany defined us “the only Italian band that really play a good heavy metal”.
2. How would you describe your style of metal music?
Dark Quarterer: Is a mixture of Epic and Progressive with slow parts with piano or guitar arpeggios alternate with strong parts with voice following intensity of sounds. Very various rithms and armonies with melodic vocal partiture.
3. Which European Festivals have you already played?

PLAY IT LOUD - Italy
UP THE HAMMER FESTIVAL – Greece
4. So now you are recording a live DVD... where do you record it and which recordings are at the DVD - which concerts have you filmed?
Dark Quarterer: We have recorded the DVD in last june 2009 in an old 1800 theatre called “CONCORDI” located in Campiglia Marittima (Tuscany) . It’s a professional DVD including our last album tracks and other 7 songs from our previous albums. Totally more than 2 hours of music.
5. Which other recordings to you do? Is it a new full length album? And who is the songwriter in the band?

1989 – THE ETRUSCAN PROPHECY – Full length
1993 – WAR TEARS – Full length
2002 – VIOLENCE – Full length
2008 – SYMBOLS – Full length
All albums have been reissued in Germany, Greece and Italy. We are now preparing material for a new project but we don’t know subject, title and final contents. I Wrote all lyrics and some music. Ninci Paolo (drummer) wrote some Music and Francesco Sozzi (guitar) too. In 2 First albums music was compose by Fulberto Serena (guitar). He leaved the band on 1990.
6.What are your goals with Dark Quarterer?
Dark Quarterer: We play the music we like without any commercial compromise. Our dream is to continue to play our music without loosing this strong identity.
7.Which are you favourite cover songs you were playing in the early days?

8. I saw that in November 2010 you will play in Germany at the Metal Forces Festival XIII... So I think you are really exited bout it. How do you like Germany do you have many fans over here?
Dark Quarterer: Yes we are very exited , more exited for being Headliner of 1 day of the Festival.We have a lot of fans in Germany and we’ll do our effort to play in the best way our best songs.
