Interview: FORCENTURY

Hello there Marc and Forcentury,

I welcome you to the interviews with Susi. I hope you are doing well. It`s nice having you here for an interview. So letz start!

1. So you are Forcentury from Denmark.. so please introduce your band to us here.

Marc: Hey I’m doing fine, and thanks for having me here. I’m Marc Masters and I play guitar in FORCENTURY. The rest of the band consists of Jonas Landt on drums, Iver on bass, Andreas Palsgaard on keys, JaCK on guitar and Johnn Thunder – our lead vocalist.

2. What does FORCENTURY stand for?

Marc: To narrow it down, it’s basically 2 words put together: FORCE and CENTURY. The meaning is totally up to the individual, but when pressed, we usually translate it into long lasting power.

3. Your CD is out since 2009... so please tell us something about your album. How long did the recordings take?

Marc: The record is called VANGUARD, and was released late November ‘09, where we threw a big release party for all our friends and fans. It took around 9 months to record, mix and master the album. It’s self financed and we had to make numerous payments throughout 2009 in order to complete the recordings and mixing. Apart from the band, all band members have jobs, and we had a lot of tricky coordination with vacations, weekends and spare evenings to get the recordings done. All guitar and bass parts were recorded by JaCK and me. It was done in our own studio where Andreas also recorded the keys. Drums and vocals were recorded at Earplug studio here in Copenhagen, where all mixing also took place. Our producer Thomas “Pede” Pedersen, JaCK and myself in cooperation took care of that part of the process.

4. What`s the album Vanguard all about? And how were the fans reactions on this Cd?

Marc: Of course it’s about showing the world what FORCENTURY is all about. It’s our debut album, so we had to figure out a lot of things the hard way. The topics on the album vary from battles with creatues and Vikings(Abyss/Valhallas call) to fighting the ”Man” and the conformity of society(Through the eyes of Thunder/ Bottom line zombies)
The reactions from the fans have been over the top – it’s hard to get our arms down at the moment. And apart from a few skeptical ones, the reviews have also been great.

5. What is FORCENTURY doing at the moment?

Marc: At the moment we are in a bit of a dry spell gig wise, so we use every rehearsal at the moment to write new songs. And it is going very well – we already have 5 new songs. So when we eventually get a deal we are ready to enter the studio again. Nothing really stands still in FORCENTURY.

6. I see you got two upcoming concerts at the moment which you are looking forward to. So is it planned to get the word of FORCENTURY out to the world by touring USA, Germany for example? I am sure the people would be very interested in your music there.

Marc: We got good reviews in many parts of the world, so we are definitely hoping to do some touring outside Denmark. We have signed a deal with Danish bookers Dedicated booking, so if anyone wants to get in contact with us or book us for a gig, just send us an e-mail at info@forcentury.com or majbritt@dedicatedbooking.dk.

7. Well and I also think the cd-labels must be really intrested in your band also?

Marc: We hope they are but we honestly don’t know. We didn’t try to get a deal this time, and we’re still waiting for the right moment to present ourselves to the record companies. The next album will – if all goes well – be released on an established label though. I do think that we have proven on this album that we deliver class A metal! If any label should happen to read this, feel free to contact us at info@forcentury.com.

8. Have you got any musical side projects besides your main band?

Marc: I don’t anymore. I used to play in Iron Fire – another power metal band from Copenhagen. But it took too much of my time away from FORCENTURY. I’m always up for helping other bands out live or lending an axe for small projects but for now it’s 100% FORCENTURY!
JaCK is playing in an At the Gates jam-band, and Andreas plays a number of different medieval instruments in a folk band. Johnn sings in bars and on the street, mostly Scottish and Irish folk songs.

9. Anything you would like to add on here?

Marc: Yeah check us out at www.forcentury.com and www.myspace.com/forcentury. There you can also find links to where you can buy the album. Feel free to write us, and stay metal out there. All the best from FORCENTURY...

Marc, I thank you and FORCENTURY for the talking. It is great we talked for a while! I wish you only the best! Keep in contact, Susi
